Three things decide charging speed
- Connector at the charger end. Most new chargers have a USB-C port and need a C-to-C cable for USB-PD fast charging. Older chargers have USB-A and need an A-to-C cable.
- Protocol. Samsung, Pixel and iPhone 15+ use USB-PD; Xiaomi HyperCharge, OnePlus SUPERVOOC and similar systems need the brand's own charger and often its own cable.
- E-Marker chip. Above 60W (3A), a C-to-C cable needs an E-Marker chip to carry 5A. Only relevant for laptops and 65W+ phones.
Which should you buy?
- USB-C charger or laptop: Portronics Konnect B 100W (₹228, M.R.P. ₹899).
- Xiaomi/Redmi HyperCharge: Mi 6A 120W cable (₹179, M.R.P. ₹699).
- Any phone on an older USB-A charger: boAt 65W braided (₹199, M.R.P. ₹799) or Ambrane 3A braided (₹129, M.R.P. ₹349).
- Need a charger too: Eveready 20W dual-port charger (₹329, M.R.P. ₹1,299) has USB-A and Type-C ports; 20W suits iPhones and most budget Android phones.

FAQs
Does a 100W cable charge my phone faster?
Only up to what your phone and charger support. A 100W cable on a 25W phone still charges at 25W.
Do I need a C-to-C or A-to-C cable?
Match the port on your charger: USB-C charger needs C-to-C, USB-A charger needs A-to-C.
What is an E-Marker chip?
A chip in USB-C cables that lets them carry 5A (over 60W). Needed for 65W+ laptops and phones, not for 18–25W phones.
Will a third-party cable work with Xiaomi HyperCharge or OnePlus SUPERVOOC?
Usually not at full speed; these use the brand's own protocol. Use the brand's cable, such as the Mi 6A cable for Xiaomi/Redmi.
